According to most of the American citizens and travel blogs , Arizona is considered one of the most beautiful states in the U.S., with its spectacular and varied scenery, natural wonders and the vestiges of the Old West. If as a child you grew up on bread and western movies, you will be enchanted and admire the immense desert of Arizona, an endless expanse of sunny charm.
The first stop on our road trip in Arizona is Tucson, a small town. However thanks to the state university it's a very cheerful and easy-going place, from here we start to discover some of the finest places in the region. Want to see a town of old west? A few miles from Tucson is Tombstone, which was a violent and dangerous border town in 800 AD, which has remained remarkably well preserved by the court. Wander the dusty streets, take a ride on the stagecoach in the saloon and drink a glass of Big Noose before attending the legendary shootout at the OK to play Corral. Just outside the town is the old cemeteries at Tombstone, the engravings on the tombstones are so bizarre and sometimes disturbing: "Jargon Jhonson, hanged by mistake. You were right, we were wrong, but now you're dead. "
Also on the Western genre, if you have kids take them to Old Tucson Studios, the old film studios now converted to a playground. Tucson is located within the Sonoran Desert, an area as suggestive as wilderness, which extends beyond the border of Mexico. Here are giant saguaro cactuses, about a dozen feet high, in addition to many rare species of wild animals and reptiles. To know this beautiful nature visit the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, which is located halfway between a zoo and a botanical gardens, where you can get to see mountain lions, coyotes, foxes and prairie dogs up close.
After that you can choose whether you want to visit the Sonoran Desert or return to Tucson and visit Presidion, the historic district where you can dine in one of the many nice restaurants.
