Craters Of The Moon

While in New Zealand, we went to Rotorua and visited Hells Gate and the thermal activity. At the time we thought it was ok but very touristy.

While at Lake Taupo, we visited "Craters Of The Moon", which is near Lake Taupo. It was much better!

At the time of visiting, it was run by volunteers and entry was by donation. There were no crowds, a small kiosk and toilets and you could get right in amongst everything.

They had nice big boardwalks all around. A person in a wheel chair could get right up close to the mud pools as well.

I highly recommend it if you are in the area of Lake Taupo.

Thanks for that kathy. I have also been to "Craters Of The Moon" and heartily agree with you. It was wonderful being able to get so close to everything and not have to battle through a crowd to find a spot.
