Explore the Globe with a Timeshare

For many frequent vacationers, researching a potential travel destination is half the fun of travelling. Learning about a nation's culture, geography and history makes travelling there all the more enlightening, enriching and fulfilling. You will also want to research and plan some of your activities ahead of time. Of course, spontaneity is key to a successful vacation, but, for convenience's sake, some things just need to be planned in advance. From para sailing off the coast of Spain to a tour of the pyramids in Egypt, booking early can save time and money. However, one place you probably don't want to waste time planning is on accommodation.

A timeshare property will allow you to secure prepaid, weeklong lodgings anywhere you're looking to travel without the hassle of finding appropriate accommodations for each and every trip. These vacation properties are extremely flexible and when used correctly, allow owners the opportunity to trade their time at their "home resort" (the resort that is deeded or contracted to them) for time at other resorts around the world.

There are a couple of different options that timeshare owners have when choosing their method of worldwide timeshare travel. When you buy a vacation property with an expansive and well-known vacation club, like HGVC "Hilton", Hyatt or Wyndham, for example, you will automatically be granted access to all of their worldwide resorts. For example, if you buy Hyatt timeshare in Las Vegas, you will be able to trade your property within the network to vacation at any of the Hyatt locations across the globe.

However, some companies like Marriott, for example, place restrictions on in-network travel if you buy your timeshare resale, a financial move that can save you thousands. So, if you are planning on buying a Marriott timeshare, or other vacation club that places such restrictions, you will want to purchase a membership with an expansive exchange company; which is the other main option for timeshare travel.

Exchange companies are not timeshares. Rather, they act as supplements to your vacation property purchase which allow you to trade your time for time at one of thousands of similar resorts (in terms of quality and price) in their international network.

Whether you choose to work with an exchange company or vacation club, a timeshare is a great way to travel the world on a budget. And if you're not quite ready to buy a vacation property of your own, you can always find a timeshare for rent in your destination of choice.
